JEWELLERY CARE

CARING FOR YOUR JEWELLERY

The quality of our jewellery is extremely important to us and this guide will help you maintain that quality for as long as possible. There are many factors that can influence the wear and tear of your jewellery but above all it is important to remember that jewellery is delicate and needs to be carefully looked after so you can enjoy wearing it forever.

DO's & DON’Ts FOR YOUR JEWELLERY

We strongly advise that you remove jewellery when bathing, showering or swimming because water and chemicals (especially chlorine) can affect the longevity of the gold plating, encourage silver to tarnish and dull gemstones.

Always apply make-up, hair spray, scent and moisturiser before putting your jewellery on as the chemicals in these can affect the beauty and shine of your jewellery.

Remove jewellery when doing household tasks such as cleaning, playing sport or other strenuous activities because jewellery may become scratched or harmed by sharp blows.

Extreme temperatures and strong UV rays can cause gemstones to fade in colour and lose their original beauty, so do not keep jewellery in direct sunlight and remove it whilst sunbathing.

GOLD VERMEIL

The nature of gold vermeil jewellery means that great care should be taken when wearing your jewellery. We strongly advise never to wear your jewellery in the shower or swimming and remove rings when washing your hands as this will discolour your jewellery and can encourage the gold to fade.

To clean your jewellery and restore its shine we recommend that you use a soft and dry 100% cotton or microfibre cloth to gently rub the surface.

Do not use a polishing agent or abrasive compounds as using these will wear away the layers of gold.

STERLING SILVER

All our silver designs are sterling silver, a precious metal that can tarnish gradually over time given its composition. To minimise the speed of this process we advise you to remove your jewellery when swimming or in the shower as chemicals such as chlorine can damage the metal.

To clean any jewellery that is set with gemstones or pearls we recommend that you gently polish the surface with a good jewellery polishing cloth, or you can wash it with a soft cloth mild soap and lukewarm water before thoroughly rinsing and drying your jewellery.

We do not recommend using silver dip cleaners or treated cloths as the harsh chemicals can harm the metal.

STORING YOUR JEWELLERY

Please take care to store your jewellery separately so that it does not get entangled, damaged or scratched by other pieces. If possible store your jewellery in its original packaging or wrap it in acid free-tissue paper, and place it in a sturdy jewellery box or airtight container.
