As always in place of the seasonal promotional frenzy, I am incredibly proud once again to launch our Charity Weekend in support of a cause that has become extremely close to my heart this past year. From now until Monday 2nd December, we will be donating 10% of every order to the very special Lymington Hospital Friends Charity in Hampshire and this is why…
On Thursday 23rd May this year, I received a phone call from my mother early in the morning with the news that my dear father had suffered a stroke and they were in an ambulance en route to Southampton General Hospital. He had a blood clot that had spread from his neck, cutting off the blood flow to his brain. He was rushed through A&E and within 1hr was in theatre. What ensued was an agonising wait before he came out of surgery, when we were informed that he had suffered a severe stroke and lost both his movement and speech. My father remained in hospital for 12 long weeks moving from Southampton General to a smaller local Hospital in Lymington, Hampshire during which time he received the most incredible care, support and rehabilitation from an amazing team of doctors, nurses, physio and speech therapists working above and beyond.
Thanks to their incredible work and my father’s sheer determination he has made progress that we never thought possible. 6 months on, he is now home and his movement has improved beyond our expectations. Sadly, his speech is yet to return but we remain hopeful it will. Most importantly he has his sense of humour, and we still have him, which I am all too aware is not the case for many families.
So this Charity Weekend we will be supporting the Lymington Hospital Friends Charity, specifically their Deerleap Rehabilitation Ward, which has provided so much care and hope during our journey. I know that every penny will count and help to provide more resources and support for the many patients they treat every year.
Thank you for all your love and support,
